The Serpent's trick. The fall of our first parents. Their punishment. The promise of Lord God.
- Now the Serpent was more mischievous and cunning among any other animals of the earth which the Lord God had made. And the Serpent tempted the Woman by asking her - "Did God really said, you must not eat from any tree of the paradise?"
- And the Woman answered him by saying that - "We can eat fruits from any tree of the paradise, except the tree of knowledge of good and evil which is situated in the middle of the paradise."
- And the Woman also said that - "if we eat the fruit from that tree we will immediately die. so we should not even touch the tree."
- Then the Serpent said to the Woman : "No, you will not die."
- And the Serpent started manipulating the Woman by saying that : "God wants to hide this precious fruit from you, if you will eat this fruit then your eyes get opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
- And the Woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good to eat, and looked lovely to the eyes, and delightful to be observed : and she took the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband (Adam), and he ate it.
- Then their eyes get opened, and suddenly they realised both of them were naked, they sewed some leaves together and made some coverings for them.
- And when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the paradise at the breezing afternoon, Adam and his wife hide themselves from the face of the Lord God, between the trees of paradise.
- And the Lord God called Adam : "Where are you?"
- Adam said to him : "I heard your voice in paradise ; and i was afraid, because i was naked, and i hide myself'"
- And God asked to him : "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten the fruit from the tree that i commanded you not to eat from?"
- Adam said : "The woman you gave to me to be my companion, she herself gave me the fruits, and i ate it."
- And the Lord God asked to the woman : "Why did you do this?" And Eve replied : "The Serpent tricked me, and i ate."
- So the Lord God said to the serpent : "Because you have done this, you are cursed among all the animals of the earth. You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life."
- God continued saying that : "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
- And to the woman he said : "I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desires will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
- To Adam he said : "Because you have hearkened the voice of your wife and ate the fruit which i had restricted for you."Cursed is the ground because of you, through painful hard work you will get food to eat from it all the days of your life."
- He also said : "It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field."
- And at-last he said : "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."
- Adam called the name of his wife 'Eve' : because she was the mother of all the living.
- And the Lord god made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.
- Then the Lord said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever."
- And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to work on the earth from which he was taken.
- He cast out Adam and his wife; and placed before the paradise of pleasure Cherubim, and a flaming sword, turning every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Moral : 'Never believe on unknown person' , as the Woman (Eve) believed on a stranger snake who put her and Adam in trouble.
